Police have released an image of a suspect linked to the alleged abduction of a 17-year-old boy in Somerton park, Adelaide, last Thursday

Cops are intensifying their search for a group of men accused of dragging a 17-year-old boy into a car on Australia Day after asking him if he wanted to ‘come for a ride’ with them.

South Australia Police released a composite image of one of the suspects on Monday following the boy’s terrifying alleged abduction at Somerton Park, a beachside suburb of Adelaide.

The boy was walking along the Esplanade in Somerton Park around 10pm on Thursday when a white car with four men inside pulled up next to him.

Police allege two of the men in the car jumped out and grabbed the teenager, forcing him into the back seat and driving off.

The teenager told police the men had asked him ‘Do you want to come for a ride?’ before bundling him into the car.

The boy declined, but was still allegedly forced into the car.

The car then drove for about two minutes before getting stuck in traffic at the roundabout at the corner of Partridge Street and Pier Street in Glenelg.

He managed to escape from the car when it slowed down and ran home to call police.

Detective Chief Inspector Kieran Baggoley told reporters last week the young man was not threatened or robbed and came away unscathed.

The suspects being searched for by South Australia Police are all aged in their 30s to early 40s.

The first suspect is of Caucasian appearance, about 190cm tall with a solid build.

The teenager told police he had a dark beard and was wearing a dark grey hoodie.

A second man was described as being in his 30s, with a muscular build, about 180cm tall and wearing an orange T-shirt and white beanie.

Detectives urged anyone with any information to contact police.
