Taylor Swift broke her months-long Twitter hiatus to express heartbreak over the deadly shooting that took place at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

A gunman, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, entered the campus on Tuesday morning and opened fire on unsuspecting students and faculty, resulting in the deaths of 19 children and two teachers.

Ramos was eventually shot dead by a Border Patrol agent following a shoot out with Texas law enforcement officers.

‘Filled with rage and grief, and so broken by the murders in Uvalde. By Buffalo, Laguna Woods and so many others,’ penned Swift, 32, who shared a speech given by Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr regarding the tragedy.

‘By the ways in which we, as a nation, have become conditioned to unfathomable and unbearable heartbreak.

‘Steve’s words ring so true and cut so deep,’ the Grammy Award-winner concluded.

A tearful Kerr delivered his impassioned plea for gun control ahead of his team’s game at the Dallas Mavericks’ home arena in Dallas, Texas. The arena is located just under four hundred miles away from Uvalde.

‘When are we going to do something? I’m tired. I’m so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families that are out there. I’m so tired,’ the coach began, adding that he was also ‘tired of the moments of silence.’

He went on to reference the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, better known as HR8, and how it remains in limbo despite being passed by the House Of Representatives in 2019.

HR8 would require a background check for every firearm sale, as per Bill Track 50.

Kerr stated that ’50 senators right now’ refuse to vote on the act because they want ‘to hold onto power.’

He continued: ‘Are you going to put your own desire for power ahead of the lives of our children and our elderly and our churchgoers Because that’s what it looks like. It’s what we do every week.’

Like Kerr, Swift has voiced her support for gun control in recent the years.

In March 2018, the Lover singer shared an image of the March for Our Lives logo —  a student-led gun control demonstration that followed the tragic shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida that resulted in the deaths of 17 people.

‘No one should have to go to school in fear of gun violence. Or to a nightclub. Or to a concert. Or to a movie theater. Or to their place of worship,’ Swift captioned the post.

She then revealed that she’d ‘made a donation to show my support for the students, for the March For Our Lives campaign, for everyone affected by these tragedies, and to support gun reform.

‘I’m so moved by the Parkland High School students, faculty, by all families and friends of victims who have spoken out, trying to prevent this from happening again.’

Though she’s used her platform to throw her support behind various social justice and political movements in recent years, Swift has been accused of previously taking an apolitical stance on hot button issues.
