The moment Love Island‘s Adam Collard was attacked by thugs who ripped his shirt open can be seen in shocking new video footage obtained by MailOnline.

The reality star, 26, looked visibly shaken as he and girlfriend Paige Thorne, 24, were swarmed by revellers at the Market Shaker bar in his hometown of Newcastle on Tuesday night before things became violent. 

Adam is seen pushing a group of men away while desperately trying to protect Paige and hold back a friend during the fracas amid what was supposed to be a quiet night out.

The video sees Adam and Paige initially having a good time as they danced to Alicia Keys’ Empire State Of Mind surrounded by a group of people.

But things soon take a turn for the worst as the crowd begin to swarm the couple, with things escalating quickly.

The clip then sees Adam being grabbed at, with the hunk trying to push away the men being aggressive towards him after they ripped his black top.

He’s also seen holding back a pal who had jumped in to try and help the situation. 

Bouncers were also seen trying to break up the row which took place at the bar in the city centre. 

Paige, who was wearing a black top with baggy jeans, was seen behind her beau as he desperately tried to protect her from everyone. 

A clubber told the The Sun of the altercation: ‘It happened shortly after midnight. Adam and Paige were just on a night, it wasn’t an official appearance or anything.

‘Everyone was trying to crowd him and I think they were trying to crowd Paige and Adam wasn’t happy at all which was understandable.

‘Then people started to rip his top off and it all kicked off. It’s no surprise he wanted to defend himself and was obviously looking out for Paige as well.’

A spokesman for Adam said of the bar brawl: ‘Adam was trying to enjoy a quiet night in his hometown with friends when a large group of men began aggressively harassing them.

‘Despite several attempts to diffuse the situation, the men continued to become more aggressive and started physically attacking Adam.

‘Understandably, Adam and his friends were extremely shaken up by the situation and felt it was best to leave and we’re safely escorted by the security team outside. No further action has been taken.’

During the relaxed outing, Paige was wearing a black dress with a pair of Converse as they stepped out in the sunshine.

Swansea native Paige, 24, finished in fifth place alongside Adam on this year’s series of the reality dating programme.

Just weeks after leaving the villa, she was back in the office just two weeks after the show ended ahead of her planned return to her day job.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Paige shared a clip of herself reuniting with some of her co-workers, who were all in uniform.

Paige was all smiles as she caught up with her work colleagues and captioned the video with a series of hearts.

It appeared to be a fleeting visit for the star however a she later shared a snap of herself going through Bristol Airport for a trip. 

Paige recently said she plans on returning to work as a paramedic following her Love Island success.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, she said: ‘I’ve got a meeting to go back to paramedic work as well, so that will be exciting. I actually saw an ambulance the other day with sirens on.

‘I had like serious FOMO! I was like, ‘Get me my ambulance back!’ So I’m going to go back into that a little bit and just see what opportunities come from that.

‘It’s one of those things – I genuinely just love my job. So why wouldn’t I want to go back to it? I really enjoyed it. But I’ll do other things alongside it.’
