An American tourist from Lithia in Tampa, Florida visiting Rome, fell 30 meters from the top floor of a hotel in the city on Monday, officials say.
The man, 31, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been staying at IH Roma Z3 Hotel in Collatino, Claudio Truffi for several days on vacation.
On Monday afternoon, at around 4:30pm, hotel employees found him lying on the floor in a pool of his own blood after he fell from the roof.
As per Il Messaggero, the forensic team confirmed to police officers that he ‘died instantly.’
Police detectives and forensic teams have begun an investigation which involves reconstructing the man’s final days and establishing any potential contacts he made in that time.

The investigative team have already confirmed that he was alone when he climbed up to the top of the roof.
Some of the man’s personal items, including his mobile phone, have been seized by officers to be analysed.
He did not leave a note for family and friends, so officials are scrambling to make contact with his relatives to better determine the course of events which led to his death.
According to The Italian Insider, investigators are leaning towards suicide, but have not ruled out other hypotheses.
