The Net Worth of David Bromstad

How rich is David Bromstad? As of early-2020, sources inform us of a net worth that is over $2 million, earned largely through a successful career on television. Some of the shows he’s worked on include “Color Splash” and “My Lottery Dream Home”.

Early Life and Education

David is of Norwegian, German, and Swiss descent, and grew up the youngest among four children, raised by his parents in Cokado. He attended Wayzata High School which is located in Plymouth, Minnesota. There are over 3,400 students enrolled there annually, and is the largest Minnesota secondary school by size.

From a young age, he was interested in a career in design, and aspired to become an animator for Disney, so after matriculating, he enrolled at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, a place known for being the starting point for numerous people wanting to work with Disney.

The private college has been operational since 1931, originally founded as a remote branch of Southern College. Since then, the school separated and became its own independent institution.

Design Star

After completing his education, he fulfilled his dream, and began working at Disney as an illustrator. However, Bromstad’s dream of becoming an illustrator at Disney didn’t pan out as he expected, as he was later placed on indefinite leave for reasons not shared publicly. So he decided to start his own company, called Bromstad Studio, which designed fantasy bedrooms for children.

While he was working on his business, he was urged by a friend to audition for the HGTV show entitled “Design Star”, which meant that he had to move to Miami Beach to compete. The reality show premiered in 2006, and has contestants competing for the chance of having their own design show on HGTV.

The show follows the format of “The Next Food Network Star” on HGTV’s sister channel Food Network.

Each week, contestants participate in an interior design challenge, designing a living space for a specific purpose such as a garage, or creating space in an empty room, or using unconventional items taken from specific stores.

Challenges vary from working solo to working in teams, often with limited time and money to create their goal. Each week, a contestant is eliminated as decided by the judges. Winning the first season, David’s prize was a car, and the chance to host his own show.

The show focuses on transforming rooms through the dramatic use of color, and featured color specialist Danielle Hirsch – in 2010 the show moved to Miami, being renamed to “Color Splash Miami”.

One of his latest projects with the television network is “My Lottery Dream Home”.

In the show, he helps lottery winners find a luxurious property after they’ve struck it rich. Aside from his television shows, he also became a spokesman for the company Mythic Paint, and heavily promotes Miele home appliances, stating that he is a big follower of the brand.

He later collaborated with the company Grandin Road for a line of home furniture and accessories. The company which created his collection is owned by the Home Shopping Network (HSN). He also made a guest appearance in the show “Brother Vs. Brother”.
