- A released photo allegedly jokes about selling a woman to Trump.
- The White House denies the authenticity of a related handwritten note.
- The political response has been intensely partisan.
- The book’s contents openly celebrated exploitative behavior.
A large number of newly released documents from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate has sparked significant political controversy. The focus is on a controversial “birthday book” that includes a supposed joke about selling a woman to Donald Trump.
The House Oversight Committee’s release has heightened scrutiny of the former president’s ties to the disgraced financier and the culture of exploitation surrounding Epstein.

Alleged Transaction Mocked in Birthday Tribute
One photograph from the book depicts Jeffrey Epstein holding a large check, supposedly from Trump, for $22,500. Below the photo, a handwritten note reads:
“Jeffrey showing early talents with money + women! Sells fully depreciated [redacted] to Donald Trump for $22,500.”

This document was shared by Democratic members of the committee. The White House has not yet commented on this specific image. A lawyer representing the woman in the photo, who is described as a wealthy European, said she cut all ties with Epstein around 1997 and had no romantic relationship with him or Trump.
White House Denies Authenticity of Trump Note
The book also contains a note framed by a drawing of a naked woman, signed with what looks like Trump’s first name. The White House has strongly denied that it is genuine. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said:
“As I have said all along, it’s very clear President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it.”
Deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich also claimed the signature is a forgery, tweeting that it was time for news outlets to “open that checkbook,” suggesting a defamation lawsuit would follow.
Political Reactions Fuel Partisan Divide
The release of these documents has deepened existing political divides. Republican committee chairman James Comer accused Democrats of “cherry-picking documents and politicizing information.” Vice President JD Vance stated:
“The Democrats don’t care about Epstein. They don’t even care about his victims… The only thing they care about is concocting another fake scandal like Russiagate to smear President Trump with lies.”
On the other side, Democratic Congressman Robert Garcia argued, “This note Donald Trump has said does not exist… Once again he is lying to the American public.”
Birthday Book Reveals Epstein’s Celebrated Exploits
Compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell, the 238-page book celebrates Epstein’s 50th birthday with contributions from associates. Its contents include lewd illustrations and jokes that openly trivialize the sexual exploitation of women.
One entry compares Epstein to the protagonist of The Old Man and the Sea, but instead of catching fish, he catches women “blonde, red or brunette”. Another describes a demeaning sexual encounter that left Epstein “howling with laughter”.
