Early life and education

Tahnee was raised in San Diego alongside her older brother Damon Welch, born on 6 November 1959, by their mother and their father James Welch; their parents split when Tahnee was less than a year old, and their mother went on to marry film producer Patrick Curtis in 1967, divorcing him five years later, then married French producer and director Andre Weinfeld in 1980 and divorced him in 1990, while her fourth husband was Richard Palmer, whom she married in 1999 and divorced in 2003.

Tahnee became interested in acting at a very early age, mostly because she looked up to her mother, while Raquel often took her to the sets of her movies and TV series; she was only nine years old when she launched her own acting career, playing Elena as a Girl in the 1971 drama film “The Beloved”.

Following this appearance, Tahnee chose to focus on other things, and didn’t appear in any movies or TV series in the following 13 years. She attended Westlake School for Girls, from which she dropped out at the age of 16, and then left home and backpacked across Europe.
