The cause of death is not yet known, but Saundra Mae-Lynn, who identifies herself as Ballman’s aunt, shared on Facebook: “It is with the greatest sadness I need to report that my niece Katelyn Ballman, only 27 years old, passed away. She was fun, funny, and a loving mother. ”
She added: “I didn’t hear from her often, but I did call her from time to time. As far as I know, nothing is known about the cause of death. Ballman is said to have had more than 75,000 followers and 1.5 million likes on TikTok, where she used to share about her life, as well as her husband, Josh Wurtz, and her four children. Her Instagram also had a following of over 2k people that was filled with posts of her with friends and family.
Ballman reportedly shared hers of hers last video of hers on TikTok on September 29, the day she apparently died. The caption for the video read, “Literally in the school pickup line,” which she showed her dancing sitting in her car. An online obituary of her read: “Katelyn Wurtz (nee Ballman), 27, of Cheviot, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday September 29, 2021. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 30, 1994 to Peggy Ballman. She was preceded in her death by her mother, Peggy Ballman, her grandmother, Hattie Ballman, and her sister, Larhnoda Vohl. ”
She continued, “Katelyn is survived by her loving husband, Josh Wurtz; parents, Fred (Brenda) Herbers; children, Anabelle Pastrimas-Wurtz, Braxton Wurtz, Owen Ballman, Easton Ballman; brothers, Eric (Misty) Ballman, Trenton Vohl, Andrea Vohl, Cameron Ballman, Alexis Pelfrey, Tiffany Herbers, Erin Herbers, Ernie Sizemore, Charity Herbers, Bri Herbers, Elizabeth Gifford; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gary and Kim Wurtz; sister-in-law, Kayla (Charles) Rutland; and a host of other family members and friends, ”before adding,“ In memory of Katelyn, contributions can be made to the family. Social media pages were also filled with messages paying tribute to Ballman. TikToker friend and partner Allison Burton, who goes by the username @itsallibee, took to Instagram where she posted a collage of photos with Ballman and wrote: “My beautiful soul sister, my best friend, everything is now. in the sky. I can’t seem to understand why her. My heart is broken 💔 Katelyn… please take care of your babies, your family, your friends and me as I need it more than anything right now. I love you very much, Katelyn.
Ballman’s mother-in-law, Kim Williams-Wurtz, also shared a very emotional post on Facebook that said, “I’m writing a post tonight that I never thought in a million years that I would have to write.” My precious, beautiful, loving, compassionate, kind, happy, joyful and much more in love daughter passed away suddenly yesterday. God truly blessed our family with this Lil Fire who came to our family with so much love and compassion and never looked back.
He loved Josh Wurtz with unconditional love. Katelyn Wurtz helped heal Josh from past hurts and pains and caused and taught him to love again. HE LOVES HIS WOMAN from him AND SHE LOVES HER MAN from him! I never dreamed that God would bless me with such a wonderful and loving daughter-in-law, but He did with Katelyn. This girl loved a lot. When she hugged you, you knew that you were loved and loved deeply. ”
She added: “Our lives will never be the same again. There will always be a hole. Thanks to everyone who called, texted, and brought us food. You all have been cheering us on a lot!
