Brittany Renner has formally requested a court to significantly increase the child support payments from NBA star P.J. Washington. She is seeking “at least” $35,000 per month.

Renner argues that the current $5,500 monthly payments no longer meet the needs of their 4-year-old son. Since she and their son moved to California in late 2024, she claims the cost of living has risen sharply and the current amount is not enough.
She also points out that Washington, who recently signed a $90 million contract extension with the Dallas Mavericks, uses less than half of his visitation rights. Renner expresses her struggle to provide a lifestyle similar to Washington’s for their child, noting her financial troubles after losing her reality show income.

New Child Support Order Stipulates $5,500 Monthly Payment
In November 2024, a North Carolina court ordered Washington to pay Renner $5,500 per month, totaling $66,000 annually. He was also required to pay a lump sum of $130,000 to cover past child support owed and Renner’s attorney fees.
This consent order remains active as Renner filed papers to enforce the payments while living in California. Despite this, Renner now claims the amount is inadequate considering Washington’s recent financial gains and lifestyle.
Renner Highlights Lifestyle Gap Between She and Washington
Renner describes the stark contrast between their living situations. She notes Washington’s luxurious lifestyle with designer clothes, multiple luxury vehicles, and lavish vacations.
In contrast, she lives in a modest Airbnb rental and shops for their son at Target. She stresses the need for increased financial support to better align their child’s upbringing with their father’s means.
Upcoming Hearing on Child Support Increase Scheduled
The court has scheduled a hearing for November to consider Renner’s request for more child support and attorney fees. She is also asking Washington to cover $50,000 in legal costs.
This case continues to attract public attention due to the difference in child support compared to Washington’s recent $90 million contract and Renner’s financial issues.
