Police in western North Carolina have now made two arrests in the murder of an Asheville teen who was last seen in November and found dead in a ditch in Candler on December 12.
Johnathan David Paleno, 21, was arrested on December 19 and charged with first degree murder in the death of 18-year-old Joseph Solomon Rose, WLOS reports. And on Tuesday, police arrested 20-year-old Avery Kate Deeds, charging her with concealment of Rose’s death and disturbing his remains.
Rose’s family said they last heard from him on November 24 and reported him missing on December 2, as CrimeOnline reported. He was found dead with a single gunshot wound to head.
A search warrant for Paleno’s vehicle found “traces of blood” in the “back seat of the car and the back door seal.” More traces were found on the floorboard and steering wheel. The warrant further said that Paleno admitted moving Rose’s body, includin taking off his puffy jacket rolling the body down an embankment.
An arrest warrant charges Deeds with knowing that Rose had been shot to death and “intentionally and knowingly conceal[ing] the death, thus failing to notify law enforcement of the death.”
Paleno is being held without bond, while Deeds was given an $80,000 bond.
