95-Year-Old Woman Beat Nursing Home Resident to Death With Wheelchair

New York police said an 89-year-old woman died on Sunday after another nursing home resident attacked her with a wheelchair.

The New York Daily News reported that the victim got into an argument with a 95-year-old woman at Seagate Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Brooklyn.

The older woman is believed to have struck the victim in the head with a piece of metal from a wheelchair, leading to her death, according to the New York Daily News.

Officials have not publicly named the victim and suspect, but NYam reported that the victim is Nina Kracstov. Meanwhile, law enforcement sources told WPIX that the accused attacker is Galina Smirnova — who reportedly has dementia.

Sources told the New York Post that the woman died hours after she was found lying in bed with a head injury.

It is unclear whether the 95-year-old suspect will face criminal charges. The New York Daily News reported that she is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation as the investigation continues.
