An Alabama mother has been charged with murder and child abuse after she allegedly left her two teenage sons, both of whom have autism, home alone and one of them died.
Amanda Morgan, 39, was arrested on Tuesday after a months-long investigation into the October 2025 incident, WKRG reports.
Police also found the home where the family was living to be without air condition or running water. It was also bug-infested and covere in feces.
Police were called to the home about a child not breathing and found the 14-year-old dead. The children, including a 16-year-old with autism, had been left along overnight and the younger child had gotten a blanket wrapped around his neck in an “accidental strangulation.”
The older child was hospitalized for malnutrition.
Morgan was given $440,000 in bonds at Wednesday’s hearing and was ordered to have no contact with the 16-year-old. Her arraignment is set for Tuesday.
