Police in Washington state have made an arrest in the murder of a woman found dead in September, two months after she went missing.
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office did not name the suspect but said he was a 45-year-old man from Bremerton and that he was charged with the murder of 27-year-old Mallory Barbour.
Officials in Washington do not name suspects until they are officially charged in court.
Barbour was last seen on June 24, as CrimeOnline previously reported. She was found dead in the woods some 120 miles from her home on September 15, and detectives said at the time that “indications” were that she “died from homicidal violence.”
According to KING, Barbour lived with the suspect at his Bremerton address, and when detectives searched the apartment, they found her purse, identification, and a ferry ticket from Seattle to Bremerton purchased on June 25.
The suspect told police he picked Barbour up at the ferry terminal in Bremerton and brought her back to his apartment, where they had sex. Then, he said, he dropped her off in Belfair.
When he tried to contact her the next day, he didn’t hear from her again.
Police found Barbour’s phone in the suspect’s apartment. It received calls on June 26 before it was turned off.
The suspect is expected in court Thursday afternoon, KCPQ said.
