Baby Dies After Being Left in Wet Blanket Next to 61-Degree Motel Air Conditioner

Three people were arrested earlier this week after a 3 1/2-month-old baby was found dead at a Georgia motel.

Richmond County officials were called to Wellstar MCG Health in Augusta, where the baby — identified as Josiah Noel Seright — was pronounced dead just after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, WJBF reported.

Police said the three suspects — the baby’s mother, 19-year-old September De’Asia Seright, 42-year-old Lamisha Diane Seright, and 39-year-old Bennie Antonio Nash — left the child in a wet car seat, wrapped in a wet blanket, next to an air conditioning unit that was set to 61 degrees in their room at the Budget Inn.

Authorities said the child died of hypothermia and respiratory failure, according to WJBF.

The suspects have all been charged with second degree murder and 2nd degree cruelty to children.
