A black rights activist who was expelled from the Labour Party after making a Jewish MP cry has appeared in court charged with two counts of sexual assault.
Marc Wadsworth, 70, is accused of touching a woman and assaulting her by penetration on September 5 2022.
Wadsworth, who was kicked out of the Labour Party in 2018, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, where he spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.
No pleas were entered.
He was granted unconditional bail to appear at Croydon Crown Court on April 1.

Wadsworth was expelled from Labour after he accused former MP Ruth Smeeth of colluding with the media at a 2016 press conference launching the Chakrabarti report on anti-Semitism.
Standing up with the microphone in his hand at the televised launch, he said: ‘I saw that The Telegraph handed a copy of a press release to Ruth Smeeth MP so you can see who is working hand in hand.’
His remarks sparked shocked gasps of disbelief as one audience member cried out: ‘Are you serious? How dare you.’
Ms Smeeth was so upset by the remark that she left and broke down in tears.
He was suspended from the party before being expelled.
Wadsworth founded the Anti-Racist Alliance in 1991 and also ran Momentum Black Connexions.
