A British mother-of-three has been killed in Spain as police arrested her ex-partner on suspicion of murder.
The 33-year-old woman, who has not been named, was attacked at around 11.40am local time in the La Paca area of Alhaurin el Grande in Malaga.
The woman is said to have called for help from a property, prompting neighbours to enter her home to find her lying on the floor in a pool of blood.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after they raised the alarm, but she was sadly pronounced dead.
Officers discovered a kitchen knife at the scene which was taken away as part of their investigation.
A man, known only by the initials J.A.R., who is understood to be the victim’s ex-partner, has been arrested.
He reportedly fled the scene but handed himself in a short time afterwards, telling officers he had ‘done something terrible’.
Local media reported that the woman had three young children who were in the house at the time of the attack.

It is thought they assisted in calling for help for their mother, who was declared dead at the scene.
Neighbours claimed that the couple’s relationship had been on the rocks prior to the woman’s death and they had been in the process of separating.
They told local media organisation Sur that the woman had been out with friends on Friday afternoon, and that her partner had sent repeated messages throughout the evening trying to find out where she was.
The man had also been made the subject of restraining orders that prohibited him from contacting or seeing the victim in any way, it was reported.
In a statement, local police said: ‘The Civil Guard is investigating the death of a woman in Alhuarin el Grande. Her ex-partner has been arrested as the suspected perpetrator.’
Alhaurín el Grande Town Council said: ‘The Alhaurín el Grande Town Council expresses its deepest sorrow for the murder of a woman, around thirty years old and of British nationality, which occurred in our municipality this morning.
‘From the City Council, we extend our deepest condolences and support to the family and loved ones of the victim, as well as our strongest condemnation and outrage at this act of gender violence, a social scourge that seriously violates human rights and that we must eradicate with the involvement of the entire society.’
An official day of mourning has been announced for Monday, January 26, the local authority added.
