Convicted Felon Fatally Shoots Girlfriend in Doorway, Claims a Burglar Did It: Police

An Alabama woman was fatally shot, reportedly by her boyfriend, who called 911 claiming she was a burglar.

On Thursday, West Precinct officers with the Birmingham Police Department responded to a 911 call just after 12:15 p.m., claiming a woman was shot while breaking into a Birmingham residence in the 2000 block of 10th Street in Pratt City, according to AL.com.

Detectives found Bria McNeal-Williams, 20, of Center Point, shot near the back door of the residence, unresponsive.  Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced her dead at 12:30 p.m.

Jeffrey Rogers, 25, made the 911 call and said someone tried to break into his home and he shot the person, Officer De’Rell Freeman stated.

On Saturday, the police investigation showed that the fatal shooting appeared to be domestic in nature and that McNeal-Williams and Rogers were in a relationship.

Rogers has been charged with murder. He’s also charged with a firearm possession.

He is being held in the Jefferson County jail without bond.
