Dad Who Slammed Infant Son Into Wall While Losing Video Game Learns Fate

A Wisconsin man admitted this week that he slammed his 8-month-old son against a wall because he was losing at a video basketball game.

Jalin A. White, 22, pleaded guilty to child abuse causing great bodily harm and child neglect causing great bodily harm, Law&Crime reported.

White was sentenced to 12 years in prison and seven years probation. He was also ordered to complete post-incarceration classes, programs, and treatment regimes and is barred from using corporal punishment on children.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, White was losing at NBA 2K video game when he threw the baby against a wall. Police said he provided multiple inconsistent explanations regarding his son’s injuries, including claiming the baby’s mother hit his head on a door frame.

White reportedly said the baby fell during a diaper change and also said that he dropped the baby while playing video games. But investigators ultimately learned the truth

“The Defendant was down two points in the fourth quarter of the game and became frustrated while holding JW, ultimately throwing JW against the wall,” a criminal complaint detailed.

The baby boy suffered six rib fractures, a skull fracture, and a severe brain injury and was not initially expected to survive. He did recuperate, prosecutors told Law&Crime in an email.

Even after admitting he’d thrown the baby against the wall, White continually refused to say specifically that he did anything, instead saying things like “he hit his head hard against the wall”
