A Georgia woman remains missing more than a year after she left home and never returned.
On May 12, 2024, Destiney Gunnison, now 31, reportedly left her father’s home in Atlanta to visit a friend in Oakland City. Gunnison never returned home — and her mother told WAGA that it is unlike her to miss holidays or go long periods without speaking to family.
Gunnison is considered endangered, and her mother fears foul play is involved in her disappearance.
Gunnison’s mother also told WAGA that her daughter suffers from seizures and has the mental capacity of a child. Gunnison sometimes requires medication for her seizures.
Gunnison was described as standing between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing between 215 and 235 pounds, and having black hair and brown eyes. Black and Missing noted that Gunnison has a light tick and walks with a slight twist.
Anyone with information regarding Gunnison’s whereabouts is asked to call East Point police at 404-761-2177.
Destiney Gunninson’s case is being covered as part of Crime Online’s “Finding the Lost: Black and Missing” series, which will feature a missing Black person every day in February. The full series can be read here.
