An Ohio mother has been charged with murder after she allegedly admitted to police that she put a bag over her 3-year-old daughter’s head and suffocated her.
A 911 call came in at about 5:30 Wednesday afternoon, and Columbus Division of Police officers arrived to find the toddler, Cassidy Sakoulos, unresponsive., WBNS reports. The toddler was rushed to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.
The child’s mother, 41-year-old Sharon Sakoulos, has been charged with murder in the child’s death. According to court documents, the toddler had visible bruises, and Sakoulos told detectives she intentionally killed the girl by placing a bag over her head.
Sakoulos is expected to be arraigned on Friday, according to WSYX, which also reported that Franklin County Children’s Services said they had no interactions with the family in more than a year and a half.
