Doctor Who star Noel Clarke has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape of a woman in her 20s.

Clarke, 50, was interviewed at Islington police station in north London this afternoon over the incident, alleged to have taken place in the capital in 2007.

He is accused of attempted rape, exposure and sexual assault by touching, all relating to the same woman.

Clarke was also questioned over alleged voyeurism in relation to a woman in her 20s which is said to have taken place in 2013.

He was initially arrested by officers from the Met Police at his home in Kensington last September over the later offence.

Last year he lost a libel case against the Guardian newspaper. Days later, he was arrested on suspicion of voyeurism.

A Metropolitan Police investigation led by Central Specialist Crime Command began shortly afterwards on September 1.

Today he was detained over the further offences and later released on bail.

An investigation into the allegations continues.

A Met spokesman said: ‘A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape, exposure and sexual assault by touching on Tuesday, February 10. He was interviewed by detectives.

‘This arrest relates to a sexual offence, which is alleged to have taken place in 2007 in London against a woman in her 20s.

‘The man was also interviewed in relation to a voyeurism allegation, for which he was previously arrested in September 2025. This relates to an offence allegedly committed in 2013 at an address in London against a woman in her 20s.

‘The man was bailed pending further enquiries and the Met’s investigation continues.’

Last August, Clarke lost a libel case against the Guardian’s reporting of allegations about his behaviour and was ordered to pay at least £3million in legal costs by a High Court judge.

The Guardian estimates its total bill is at least £6million.

Clarke filed for bankruptcy and was formally declared bankrupt on December 11.

He had denied the claims against him, and his lawyers previously said the newspaper had acted as the ‘judge, jury and executioner’ of his career.

Guardian News & Media (GNM) defended its reporting as being both true and in the public interest and, in a judgment in August, judge Mrs Justice Steyn agreed.

Clarke, who also starred in the Kidulthood trilogy, found fame after portraying Mickey Smith in Doctor Who between 2005 and 2010, and worked as a writer, producer and director.
