Elementary School Teacher Pummeled Sam’s Club Shopper for Trying To Buy 2 Rotisserie Chickens

A South Carolina woman was arrested on Wednesday, days after she allegedly attacked a shopper at a Sam’s Club.

WACH reported that the incident unfolded on Saturday at a Sam’s Club in Columbia. That is where deputies said a disagreement over rotisserie chickens escalated when Ashley Murff, 42, punched a woman in the face as she pulled out her phone to photograph her.

The argument apparently stemmed from the victim purchasing more than one chicken, which upset Murff. The victim’s friend told WACH that her friend was getting a second chicken for an elderly woman who could not stand in line.

“That’s when she called her the racial slur. She called her the racial slur twice, the N-word, and she said it twice,” the friend alleged.

Murff allegedly left the scene after punching the victim. Despite this, she was arrested days later and charged with third-degree assault.

Reports indicated that Murff is a fourth-grade teacher at Winget Park Elementary School in Charlotte. School officials told WBTV that she was suspended with pay on Thursday. Officials also confirmed her suspension stemmed from an off-campus incident which resulted in her arrest.
