‘Extremely Dangerous’: Convicted Murderer, 2 Other Inmates Escape Georgia’s DeKalb County Jail

Police in Georgia are searching for three inmates who escaped from the DeKalb County Jail in Decatur,

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, authorities discovered that the inmates were missing during a routine security check Sunday morning.

The inmates have been identified as:

  • Charles Stevenson, 24
  • Noad Yohannes, 25
  •  Yusef Minor, 31

WXGA News reports that Stevenson is facing a murder charge, along with armed robbery. Minor is facing an armed robbery charge and Yohannes is facing assault, arson, and unlawful acts of violence charges.

AJC reports that Stevenson had already been convicted in 2024, on armed robbery, false imprisonment, aggravated sodomy, kidnapping, and aggravated assault. A judge ordered him to serve life in prison.

Minor was previously sentenced to life in prison for a 2024 murder. He was also convicted of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

So far, it’s unclear how the inmates managed to escape, while the U.S. Marshals said that Anderson is “extremely dangerous.”

“We take this breach very seriously and are working diligently to ensure these individuals are safely returned to custody as quickly as possible,” Sheriff Melody M. Maddox said in a release, according to CBS News.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts should contact the Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Tip Line at (404) 298-8200. The public should “exercise extreme caution and should not approach them,” officials said.

“Let the message go out to Mr. Charles and all other fugitives. We are looking for and we will find you. Any person who violates the laws of the United States will not be allowed a moment of rest. You will never find peace,” Thomas E. Brown, the U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Georgia, said.

“You will answer for your crimes.”
