FBI Joins Search for College Student Who Vanished From Campus a Week Ago

The FBI has joined the search for a missing Vermont college student who vanished a week earlier.

Reported missing on Sunday, Lia Smith, 21, was last seen at Middlebury College on Friday. WBTS reported that Border Patrol participated in a large search on Wednesday, and Vermont State Police and New York State Police have also joined the ongoing search for Smith.

State police said another search is scheduled for Thursday, per the news outlet.

Smith’s father filed a missing person report on Sunday after she stopped answering her cell phone and corresponding with friends. Additional details regarding her disappearance were not provided.

Smith, who is from California, was described as standing 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds, and having brown hair and blue eyes.
