Florida Man Opens Fire on Woman, Companion Who Came to Wrong House

A Florida man faces multiple felony charges after he opened fire on a woman and her companion when she approached his house by mistake over the weekend.

Roman Rawicki, 41, told police he thought the woman, identified as TP in a police report, was a prostitute and he feared for “his wife’s safety,” WFTV reported.

TP told police she had been following another friend to their home and stopped at Rawicki’s home by mistake. As she approached Rawicki’s driveway, he attacked her, twisting her arm behind her back and refusing to let her go. TP called to her friend, identified as WP, who ran over to help. Rawicki threw TP to the ground and went inside his home, returning with a firearm.

TP and WP rushed back to their vehicle as Rawicki opened fire, hitting the vehicle several times and leaving it with multiple bullet holes and a flat tire.

Investigators said they recovered 17 shell casings in the roadway outside the home.

TP sustained bruises to her wrist and arm and a bracelet was broken.

Despite Rawicki’s post-Miranda statement that he feared for his family’s safety, police said the home security video showed TP approaching “in a non-threatening manner.”

Rawicki called 911 after the incident, saying he was the shooter and noted that he had a “no soliciting” sign at his home. He said he knew that TP arrived at the home by mistake. Even in Florida, a “no soliciting” sign does not allow homeowners to attack people who approach the home.

Rawicki has been charged with attempted murder, false imprisonment, criminal mischief over $1,000, discharging a firearm on residential property, and battery.

He was released after posting a $160,000 bond.
