Four People — Including 2 Children — Found Dead in Home After 911 Call About Booby Traps

An investigation is underway in California, where two adults and two children were found dead in a home on Tuesday in a suspected case of murder-suicide.

The four bodies — a woman, a man, a boy, and a girl — were discovered with gunshot wounds in a Rancho Cordova residence. KCRA reported that two calls were made to Sacramento County police: The first from a caller indicating they heard gunshots, and the second from a caller who claimed he fired a gun and installed booby traps.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Edward Igoe said a drone captured footage of an unresponsive man before deputies entered the home and discovered the three other bodies. Igoe noted that it is unclear whether the deceased man was the person who made the second call, noting they found no traps on the property.

While officials have not publicly identified the four decedents, the Sacramento Bee reported that the homeowners are listed as David and Lindsey Vallerga, 58 and 49. The pair was said to have two children, a 13-year-old son and an 11-year-old daughter.

Police said they believe the incident is a murder-suicide carried out by the deceased man. They also said no prior domestic violence calls made to the home before Tuesday.
