A Georgia teen has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2023 death of a 14-year-old boy, following a high school football game.
According to Atlanta’s Channel 2 Action News, Kaomarion Kendrick, 17 at the time, fatally shot Emmanuel Dorsey after a Griffin-Spalding football game on September 30, 2023, outside Griffin Memorial Stadium.
Last week, a jury found Kendrick guilty of felony murder and violations of the RICO Act (three counts).
Investigators said Kendrick shot Dorsey in the neck and face as he walked down the street, following the game. The incident had been sparked by an altercation between “two rival cliques,” police said.
Police arrested Kendrick nearly two weeks later in a Henry County neighborhood. FOX 5 Atlanta reports that police found him “armed with a Glock handgun.”
Investigators stated that the teens knew each other and both attended Griffin High School.
“I am incredibly proud of our office for bringing justice to this defendant and perhaps some degree of closure and comfort for Mr. Dorsey’s family,” said Acting District Attorney David Studdard.
“My personal message is that my office will relentlessly pursue those who commit violent crimes in our community and will bring them to justice.”
A judge sentenced Kendrick to serve life behind bars without the possibility of parole, along with an additional 85 years.
Emmanuel’s mother, Charlotte Williams, told Daily Mail that her son was “full of energy and life,” and would “walk into a room and it would just light up.”
