A Utah man was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing his biological child and stepchild.
The 40-year-old man, from West Jordan, reportedly admitted to abusing one of his children to an FBI agent who was investigating unrelated sexual abuse claims. It was during that investigation when a search warrant was executed at his home and he was taken into custody — leading to the admission, according to KTVX.
The man’s stepchild allegedly told detectives that their stepfather gave the child and stepchild sex toys to perform oral sex on. The stepchild claimed the father also wanted them to perform oral sex on him, according to KTVX.
The man was also accused of showing both children pornography, starting when they were eight. KTVX reported that the abuse typically occurred on Sunday, when the mother was at church. However, the biological child allegedly recounted at least one incident in which the mother was present and did not say anything.
According to the news outlet, the man claimed the sexual abuse started because the stepchild was “sexually curious.” He reportedly also admitted to downloading child pornography and giving his stepchild a sex toy.
The man, who has not been publicly identified, was charged with sodomy upon a child, object rape, and rape of a child, and distributing material harmful to a minor. He remains jailed without bond.
It is unclear whether the mother will also be criminally charged.
