‘I Killed My Family’: 15-Year-Old Says He Was ‘Fighting Demons’ When He Murdered Dad & Great-Uncle

A 15-year-old Indiana boy was charged with murder last month for allegedly fatally shooting his father and great-uncle in August.

On October 29, Jeremiah Dill’s case was waived to adult court, where he will be prosecuted for Grantham Chandler, 43, and Jeffrey Fauber, 61. WTHR reported that the pair was found deceased in the driveway of a Quincy home on August 9.

Indiana State Police were preparing to respond to the crime scene when they learned that Dill had turned himself in. Dill allegedly made several admissions to Martinsville police, including “I killed my family,” and that the guns he used to carry out the slayings were in a nearby car that was missing from where the shooting transpired.

Officers reportedly searched the vehicle and discovered a handgun and a loaded AR-15 with its safety off.

“I’m fighting demons,” he also told police, according to WTHR.

Dill reportedly has a history of mental health issues, including an instance in which he underwent in-patient treatment after he threatened to kill his family.

According to WBIW, a witness described Dill as “uncharacteristically helpful” the morning of the murders. The witness also claimed Dill had recently threatened to kill the family.

It was during that recent incident when Dill told police that he planned to kill his father and that he knew where the guns were in the home. Dill was released from psychiatric care on August 7 — two days before the murders.

The Department of Child Services got involved after the threats were made. WBIW reported that his family had been ensuring the guns were locked away, but it is unclear how Dill accessed them on August 9.

Dill’s trial is scheduled to begin on April 14, 2026.
