Monica Lewinsky (Beanie Feldstein) gets closer to Linda Tripp (Sarah Paulson), revealing what Linda had suspected: she was having an affair with Bill Clinton (Clive Owen) on the second episode of Impeachment: American Crime Story.

Last week’s premiere set up how Monica and Linda first met, with Monica sent to work at the Department of Defense, just as Linda was sent there after working in the White House.

Tuesday night’s episode, entitled The President Kissed Me, reveals Monica already trusts Linda enough to talk about the affair, which would prove to be her downfall, as we also see how their first kiss unfolds.

Monica and other interns are told that they will be working with people who are running the country, as he tells them to ‘please be professional.’

Monica is sent to deliver something to George Stephanopoulos, when she meets President Clinton for the first time.

They make small talk about where they’re from, their first time visiting the White House and other things when Monica admits she’s nervous because she has, ‘a huge crush on you.’

President Clinton takes her badge and says, ‘This could be a problem.’

She returns back to her condo at the Watergate, waking up her mother, telling her, ‘The President kissed me,’ but she doesn’t believe her.

The episode picks back up when Monica tells Linda that the ‘mystery man’ hasn’t talked to her in 22 days, ‘not that I’m not pathologically counting.’

Monica says her friend is in town and Linda says she should go out with her friend and then she insists on taking her antiquing.

Her friend Cat (Sarah Catherine Hook) comes to visit but she’s downtrodden because he hasn’t called, as the friend realizes they’re eating in on the chance that he might call because if he calls when she’s out she has no way to call him back.

She drops the bombshell to her friend that she told him that she loves him… and the friend asks what he said back.

He said… ‘That means a lot to me,’ as Cat breaks it down how problematic that is.

‘If I’m seeing someone and he only calls me twice a month, I would take that as a sign,’ Cat says, though Monica retorts that he’s the leader of the free world.

Monica adds that Bill ‘promised’ to bring her back to the White House when they win the election, and lets it slip she has told others about the affair, Ashley from the internship, ‘and there’s this woman at my office,’ but she swears Linda doesn’t know who she’s seeing.

Linda takes Monica antiquing as she finds an ‘exquisite’ Christmas tree antique and when they go to eat, Monica says she’s ‘depriving myself.’

Linda says she’s ‘closed for business’ and says her marriage wasn’t that interesting but the best part about it was it gave her her kids.

‘I think I’m a lucky woman. I’m very maternal, Monica, that’s why I worry about you sometimes,’ she says.

Monica wants Linda to meet her mother and Linda says she knows she can make it till Election Day on Tuesday, as Monica sighs and takes something to eat.

Monica gets her hair done on Election Day, as she finds herself watching the election coverage.

She gets back home and turns on the election coverage, where she smiles upon learning Clinton is projected to win Clinton’s home state.

Monica keeps watching coverage all night, seeing Clinton projected to win the election over Bob Dole.

She watches the coverage as Tom Brokaw talks about Hilary, and how she’s been under a ‘trial by fire’ over the past few years.

The show cuts to November 6, the morning after the election, as Monica is seen getting into a taxi… but back at work, Linda notices Monica isn’t there.

She’s actually at the rally for his re-election, where he’s seen giving her that now-infamous hug in front of the cameras.

Linda catches up with Monica in the cafeteria but she’s in no mood to talk, finally revealing that she’s not coming back.

She wonders if he has the power to bring her back, but she blurts out, ‘He’s the President. We had an affair. It’s over.’

Linda peppers her with questions, asking when it started, with Monica saying at first it was just, ‘public events,’ adding, ‘when that man focuses his attention on you, the world stops.’

She apologizes to Linda for unloading all of this stuff, and Linda says she thinks it’s not over because it was so intense.
