An Indiana woman was arrested last week after she reportedly fired her gun into the ground to try to get a group of children to be quiet.
Nicole Gilstrap, 42, told deputies she was “tired of” hearing children in the field next to her house and “shot her gun into the ground to get them to stop,” WBIW reported.
She said she stood behind her shed to fire the gun and could not see the children.
The children’s mother reported that she heard six gunshots go off and that in a subsequent argument with her over the shooting, Gilstrap allegedly threatened to shoot both her and her five children. Only two of the children were in the field at the time of the shooting.
The children’s father called 911 after that argument, telling dispatchers Gilstrap was threatening to shoot his family. Deputies said Gilstrap gave them permission to search her camper, and they took a 9mm handgun into custody as evidence.
Gilstrap was charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness.
