A Kentucky couple has been charged with reckless homicide and other charges more than a year after they reported a miscarriage.
While at the hospital, Charles and Deeann Bennett told authorities that the infant was still at their home in Booneville, Kentucky State Police said. Responding officers found the dead baby tossed over an embankment outside the home.
Deeann Bennett, 27, has been charged with reckless homicide, tampering with physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, and concealing a birth. Her 32-year-old husband was charged with reckless homicide and concealing a birth.
The investigation began on November 29, 2024, when investigators were told that Deeann Bennett had come to the hospital reporting a miscarriage. The baby was found, pronounced dead, nd the body sent to the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
State police did not reveal the results of the autopsy.
Indictments were handed up on January 22, and the Bennetts were arrested on February 9. They’re being held without bond at the Three Forks Jail and are due in court on March 2, Law&Crime reported.
