Kentucky Math Teacher Busted for Sending Explicit Messages to Child Under 12: Police

A Kentucky teacher has pleaded not guilty to having “sexual conversations” with a Louisville student.

According to WDRB, Sydne Graf, 36, appeared in court last week, on a procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means felony charge. A judge set her bail at $100,000.

An arrest citation indicated that detectives with the Louisville Metro Police began investigating in December, after Jefferson County Public Schools contacted police regarding possible exploitation of a student.

ABC 13 reports that Graf, a fifth-grade math teacher at Smyrna Elementary School in Louisville, allegedly engaged inappropriately with a student during a Non-Traditional Instruction day (NTI).

The arrest citation indicated that investigators obtained screenshots and videos from the incident, which showed Graf and the student talking about oral sex.

Police arrested Graf on December 15, who had allegedly been on her way to pick the student up near his home.

Court records indicated that Graf has also been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Police reportedly found a pill container inside her purse that contained what they thought to be hydrocodone and Adderall.

Graf has been reassigned at the school to an area in which she will have no contact with children as the investigation continues.

“We know situations like this can cause anxiety for students and families,” Smyrna Elementary Principal Amanda Cooper said.

“Our mental health team is always available. If you feel your student would benefit from talking with our mental health practitioner or counselor, please let us know.”
