Disgraced rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs will be staying in prison a month longer than anticipated.
The New York Post’s Page Six reported that Combs, convicted on a prostitution charge this summer and sentenced to four years and two months in prison, had been scheduled to leave Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institute on May 8, 2028, but that date is now June 4, 2028.
It’s not clear why the extra 30 days were tacked onto his time, but Combs has made headlines for supposedly violating prison rules in his first few weeks at the federal prison.
Just last week, TMZ reported that he was “trouble with prison officials” for drinking homemade hooch. And on Friday, CBS News reported that he had participated in a prohibited three-way call.
Combs claimed he didn’t know such calls were banned because nobody gave him the prison handbook.
A spokesperson didn’t actually address the alcohol allegation, saying that Combs was “focused on adjusting, working on himself and doing better each day.”
“As with any high-profile individual in a new environment, there will be many rumors and exaggerated stories throughout his time there — most of them untrue,” the spokesperson said. “We ask that people give him the benefit of the doubt, the privacy to focus on his personal growth.”
Combs promised the court prior to sentencing last month that he would be a better man in the future. President Donald J. Trump has said that the rapper has asked for a pardon.
In addition to the prison term, Combs is required to pay a $500,000 fine and participate in mental health and substance abuse programs.
