Mother Faces Numerous Charges After Tot Dies in Hot Car, Marking 13th Pediatric Vehicular Heatstroke in US This Year

An Illinois woman is facing numerous charges after her 1-year-old died inside a hot car and her 2-year-old was severely injured Sunday.

According to News 14, 36-year-old Aydreian Hooper is facing charges that include involuntary manslaughter, endangering the life of a child resulting in death, reckless conduct, and child endangerment.

The incident happened Sunday night in the 1200 block of Illinois Avenue in Fairfield. Both children were left in the vehicle for several hours, according to police.

“This is the 13th Pediatric Vehicular Heatstroke (PVH) death in the country this year and the first in Illinois. Since 1998 there have now been 18 PVH deaths in Illinois and 982 nationwide,” Jan Null, CCM, Adjunct Professor of Meteorology at San Jose State University, told CrimeOnline in an emailed statement.

The current condition of the 2-year-old is unknown.
