Murdaugh Murder Property Where Alex Killed Maggie & Paul Sells for $2.6 Million – Crime Online

The South Carolina property where Alex Murdaugh murdered Maggie and Paul in 2021 sold on Wednesday for $2.6 million.

According to The State, the sale of the 1,770-acre estate, known as Moselle, will mostly be used to settle legal claims against Alex’s surviving son Buster in addition to Maggie and Paul’s estates. The legal claims against them stem from Paul’s alleged drunk driving incident that killed Mallory Beach, 19.

In 2019, Paul reportedly crashed his boat into Archer’s Creek Bridge in Beaufort County. Beach, a passenger, was ejected from the boat and killed; five other people aboard were injured. A fisherman discovered Beach’s body a week later.

Paul was charged with felony boating under the influence in connection with Beach’s death, but he was killed before he could face trial.

The State reported that Moselle’s new owners are listed as Jeffrey Godley, 43, and James Ayer, 49,. Before the sale, the property had been in Maggie’s name since 2016.

While reports indicated that Moselle sold for $3.9 million, WCBD reported that the property was listed for $3.9 million but it sold for $2.6 million. One of the two owners confirmed the sale to the news outlet on Friday. Ayer told the New York Post they are unsure what they will do with the property.

According to the news outlet, Moselle’s value was unclear as it was entangled in $2 million in mortgages and lawyers’ fees pertaining to a settlement in the Beach case. After fees and debts, a majority of the money from the property’s sale will go to the two survivors of the boat crash.

The State also reported that Buster will receive $530,000 from the sale of Moselle. Roughly $275,000 will go into a pool set aside for victims of Alex’s various financial crimes.
