The body of a man has been found under a picnic table at a popular children’s playground.
Detectives have converged at a park off Elementary Road in Mambourin, west of Melbourne.
The man’s body remains under a picnic table within the park, just metres from the Laa Yulta Primary School.
Police were forced to stop a man, believed to be a relative of the deceased, after he ran through the crime scene toward the body, the Herald Sun reported.
‘Let me see him,’ he yelled before he was moved away and spoken to by officers.

A Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed detectives from the Homicide Squad were investigating the incident.
‘The body was located in a park near Elementary Road about 7.30am on 21 January and is yet to be formally identified,’ the spokesperson said.
‘The exact circumstances surrounding his death are yet to be determined.’
A man, who is believed to be known to the victim, is currently in custody assisting police with enquiries.
‘The investigation remains ongoing and police are keen to speak to anyone from the area who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage,’ the spokesperson said.
One woman told the Herald Sun a street brawl had broken out in the park just metres from the crime scene three days ago.
‘It’s very frightening, it’s very scary, we don’t feel safe walking around now,’ she told the publication.
‘We saw some youngsters, they were chasing one boy.
‘We don’t feel like going for a walk anymore, it’s very scary.’
