Off-Duty Airman Guns Down Good Samaritan Who Intervened in Domestic Violence Incident

An off-duty Missouri US Air Force airman shot and killed a neighbor who tried to intervene in a domestic dispute between him and a woman on Wednesday.

The airman, assigned to Whiteman Air Force Base, fired at police officers who responded to the scene and was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Warrensburg Police Department said.

The department said that Tony Barron “heroically intervened and was murdered by the suspect, identified as Glyzua Ingram” before the arrival of police officers. Barron was unarmed.

Police said they spotted Ingram running from the scene when they arrived and did not return fire when he shot at them. He was later found dead in a wooded area not far from the scene.

No police officers were struck by gunfire, and the woman who was Ingram’s domestic violence victim was treated for non-gunshot injuries at Western Missouri Medical Center and released.
