A 90-year-old man was left seriously injured after driving into a building on Thanksgiving, California police said.
Surveillance footage apparently showed the man speeding down a road before crashing into Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company. Los Gatos police said the man was hospitalized in serious but stable condition, according to KGO.
“It is suspected alcohol may have played a role in this incident, but all factors are being looked at as part of the ongoing investigation,” police said in a statement.

The coffee shop’s owner, Terri Hope, said she was alerted to the crash and arrived to find her business destroyed.
“Fixtures and furniture in half the building have been demolished. The coffee roaster itself is still intact and wasn’t affected. That is the heart of our business,” she told KGO.
Santa Clara County Fire Department public information officer, Erica Ray, told the Los Gattan that local firefighters self-dispatched to the scene after seeing the speeding car’s taillights flash moments before hearing the collision.
“A solo-occupant, adult driver was extricated from the vehicle inside the business,” Ray commented. “The patient was transported to the hospital by County EMS Agency.”
The injured man’s current condition is unknown. It is also unclear whether he will face criminal charges for last Thursday’s incident.
