Authorities in Tennessee have matched a skull found in 2004 to a missing college student who disappeared in 1986.
Alice Mae Sullivan, 20, was reported missing on August 29, 1986, after she failed to pick up her 3-year-old son from a babysitter’s home, The Tennesseean reported.
Sullivan was a student at Tennessee State University and had attended class on August 28 but never arrived to pick up her son. Her parents reported her missing, WZTV said.
The skull was found by a contractor on a home site in north Nashville on February 20, 2004.
The skull was sent to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification, which matched it to Sullivan. Investigators say there was no trauma to the skull, and it was the only remains found despite a thorough search of the area where it was found.
The investigation into Sullivan’s disappearance and death continues.
