On Sunday, an Alabama man entered a hospital and fatally shot his wife — who recently gave birth to their child — in a suspected case of murder-suicide.
According to WTVM, Precious Johnson, 24, was a patient at Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital when her husband, Kynath Terry Jr., 19, shot her multiple times. The coroner said Terry died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Terry’s mother told the news outlet that her son and Johnson were having marital problems, and that Johnson did not want his family at the hospital when she gave birth. However, Terry’s mother said there was no indication that their issues would escalate to violence.
The hospital was placed on lockdown for several hours following Sunday’s deadly shooting. No other injuries were reported.
Hospital officials said they are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
