Texas JROTC Instructor Shot Dead in Front Yard, Suspect Caught in Georgia

The suspect in the shooting death of a Texas JROTC instructor on Friday was captured 900 miles away in Georgia.

Fort Worth Police said Gene Bass, 54, was shot and killed outside his home in south Forth Worth Friday afternoon, KDFW reported.

The suspect, who has not been named, was arrested by Lowndes County deputies in Valdosta, Georgia.

Police in Texas said the suspect is a family member, but provided no other information about the suspect or the shooting itself.

Bass was a JROTC instructor in the Crowley Independent School District.
