Tot Killer Megan Boswell Learns Fate After Stuffing Slain Daughter in Play Shed

A Tennessee judge sentenced Megan Boswell to life in prison plus an additional 33 years on Friday.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reported that Sullivan County Judge Jim Goodwin sentenced Boswell to a life sentence that included an additional 33 years.

Boswell’s sentence will keep her from ever being released from prison.

At Boswell’s sentencing, the judge stated, “There is no doubt that this defendant had absolutely no hesitation when she killed her daughter.” He said, “She is a dangerous offender.”

As CrimeOnline previously reported, a Tennessee jury found Boswell guilty on all three first-degree murder counts in connection with the death of her daughter, Evelyn Boswell.

In addition to the murder charges, a Sullivan County jury also convicted Boswell on multiple other counts, including aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect,

Boswell had stuffed Evelyn’s body in a trash can, which was found hidden inside a play shed on her grandfather’s property in 2020.  She then repeatedly lied to police multiple times, hindering the investigation while blaming family members for the child’s disappearance.

Gene G. Scott Jr., Boswell’s attorney, has already set in motion the process to appeal the sentencing, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel

“I’m disappointed that he ordered the sentences consecutively. I strongly disagree with him that she is a danger that society needs to be protected from, so we’ll appeal that issue and see what the appellate court thinks.”

The judge will hear the motion for a new trial next week.
