It appears the Los Angeles Rams’ bid to trade for Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown has hit a snag
New England Patriots safety Kevin Byard got some offseason work in with a very special workout partner. Byard was able to put in work with current Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown. This predictably created a stir on social media.
There is a bit of back story here. Byard and Brown were teammates with the Tennessee Titans. They were teammates for four seasons across two different NFL franchises. They spent three seasons together with the Titans from 2019 to 2021. Byard was a team captain for the Titans during this time.
The two then reunited in Philadelphia in 2023. The Eagles acquired Byard in a mid-season trade.
Now, they are working out together again. Could a third reunion be in the cards?

A.J. Brown and Byard Have Been Successful
The teammates were around for some of the finest hours in Titans franchise history. 2019 saw the team go to the AFC Championship game. Brown had 1,051 yards and eight touchdowns that year. Byard had 91 tackles and five interceptions that season. 2020 saw the Titans go to the Wild Card game. The receiver had another 1,000-yard campaign, as he recorded 1,075 yards and 11 touchdowns. The defender had 111 tackles and an interception.
2021 was the year when it all personally came together for the two of them. Byard was named a first-team All-Pro and a Pro Bowler. He had 88 tackles and five interceptions. Both those numbers lead the team. Brown had 869 yards and five touchdowns on the year. That season saw a measure of success for the Titans as a team. They were the top seed in the AFC that year.
Now, Brown and Byard are united, at least in workouts. One has to think that the subject of the Patriots will come up during these workouts. Byard is, of course, now a member of the team. Brown has been connected to Patriots rumors throughout the course of the offseason.
Even so, we canβt necessarily take anything definitively from these workouts; itβs certainly unique that these two teamed up at a time like this. Brow has been a hot topic of discussion for patriots fans over the course of the last couple of months.
A.J. Brown βs Expensive Price Tag
The Eagles have not moved him at this point, but many fans are eyeing a June deadline. If the Eagles were to get rid of him before June 1, they would face a $43 million cap hit in the 2026 season. If the franchise were to move him after June 1, the Hit drops to $16.4 million. This frees up roughly $7 million in cap space for the current year. This could be a situation where Brown is not moved until late spring.
Unfortunately for fans of both teams, the waiting game may last a little bit longer. However, a workout with Byard certainly draws speculation for Brown to come to the Patriots. It would be exciting to be a fly on the wall for those workouts, as one has to think the Patriots will be brought up in conversation.
