One of Hollywood’s most handsome leading men looks completely unrecognizable as a bumbling college football player in the trailer for his new TV series.
Glen Powell, who recently bowed out of the running to become the next James Bond, is trading in his heartthrob looks for prosthetics and a shaggy wig in Hulu’s action-comedy Chad Powers.
The Top Gun: Maverick star, 36, plays Russ Holliday, a former hotshot college quarterback who blows his shot at the pros after showboating in a championship game.
In a pivotal moment, Russ makes a massive play but drops the ball just before crossing into the end zone, handing victory to the other team and cementing his reputation as a cautionary tale.
Eight years later, Russ is still haunted by his blunder, which has even inspired a viral meme and an ‘A-hole Quarterback’ Halloween costume.
Determined to redeem himself, he undergoes a Mrs. Doubtfire-style makeover and disguises himself with prosthetics and a wig to rejoin the same team that beat him years before.

This time, however, he hits the football field as a walk-on named Chad Powers
Despite his bizarre behavior, including refusing to take off his helmet for fear his wig will slip, or skipping showers to avoid losing his prosthetics, the coaches are floored by Chad’s raw talent.
‘Chad, personal hygiene is part of participating in a society,’ Steve Zahn’s baffled coach Jake Hudson tells him.
‘I wish I could be in there coach,’ Chad says in response. ‘I know you wish you could be in there too.’
‘I don’t wish that,’ Hudson replies.
Powell co-created the show with Michael Waldron of Loki fame.
‘Many teams are held together by a great quarterback. Only one team is held together by silicone and glue. Get ready for @chadpowers,’ Powell wrote on his Instagram Sunday, sharing the show’s trailer.
‘I co-created this show with my friend Michael Waldron,’ he explained.
