Aldi Australia is set to release its own Dubai chocolate-inspired treats for just $4.99 a pop, as the obsession with pistachio shows no signs of slowing.
The supermarket chain is the latest to jump on the trend with its new Hugos Pistachio Bombs, hitting shelves from Wednesday, June 25.
The chocolate shells are filled with creamy pistachio and crunchy knafeh, with shoppers claiming they taste just as good as the real deal – but cost a fraction of the price.
Other versions of the Dubai chocolate-inspired treats can sell for as much as $20.
Melbourne foodie Nectro Vlangos was among the lucky few to get his hands on the new chocolate, describing it as ‘basically like the Dubai chocolate but in ball forms’.
‘Not a lot of knafeh so I was expecting more crunch as you do with the Dubai chocolate – but it’s still there, just a lot more finer,’ Nectro said in his review.
‘The milk chocolate is a little overpowering… But still delicious.’

Many were keen to try the new chocolate, while others confirmed: ‘Just pure deliciousness.’
‘These are delicious on their own but I also like putting the Pistachio Bombs inside my matcha latte or hot chocolate. They’re a must-try,’ another shared.
The chocolate bombs have been compared to Maltesers – but with a pistachio twist.
Aussie foodie sisters, known as Eating Up With The Hannashians, raved about the treats, saying: ‘Such a slay’.
‘It’s like the Dubai chocolate bar but made into a ball… These are so good, slay all day… These are delicious,’ the sisters said.
One of the sisters claimed the chocolates were even better than Lindt’s $20 Dubai Style Chocolate blocks.
‘You have outdone yourselves. Pistachio Bombs are chocolate geniuses… Amazing. These are the best versions of the Dubai chocolates I’ve had here,’ the sisters said.

Pistachio has long been the hero ingredient of baklava and Middle Eastern desserts and is currently the popular flavour of the moment.
The pistachio trend gained viral fame after FIX dessert chocolatier Sarah Hamouda created the now-famous bars in Dubai in 2021.
The milk chocolate shells are filled with layers of pistachio cream, crunchy kataifi (knafeh) pastry, and milk chocolate.
