Aussie shoppers are scratching their heads after one of Aldi’s most popular comfort foods suddenly disappeared from freezer shelves across the country.
The budget-friendly four-packElmsbury Chunky Beef Pies ($6), known for its rich gravy and flaky pastry, has long been a go-to for families and pie lovers.
But in recent weeks, fans have noticed a glaring absence of the favourite – and they’re not happy about it.
‘Can’t find the good Aldi meat pies anymore,’ one frustrated customer wrote on Reddit.
‘I’m Australian, so obviously I survive on meat pies. I’ve been to three Aldis in south-east Sydney over the last few days and haven’t found a single pack.’
The shopper said the Elmsbury Chunky Beef Pies have been replaced by the cheaper yellow-pack six-packs, which they described as ‘more like beef soup than beef’.
‘It’s not the worst thing I’ve ever eaten, but definitely disappointing compared to the brown packs,’ they said.
Daily Mail understands the pies have been discontinued but are still available to purchase in all regions while stocks last.

Other Aldi fans quickly chimed in, confirming the missing pies weren’t isolated to one suburb.
‘I’ve been trying to get them for months now. Have tried five different Aldis in my area,’ one person commented.
‘They’re still available – you just have to go early. For whatever reason, there seems to be limited stock, and my store sells out by lunchtime,’ another added.
Many shoppers agreed the four-pack version was far superior to its six-pack counterpart.
‘I felt the four-pack Elmsbury were better and completely different pies,’ one user wrote.
‘Haven’t seen them for months. Been trying to find an alternative.’
Some speculated the product had been discontinued altogether, while others blamed seasonal changes to Aldi’s famously rotating freezer stock.

‘Freezers get all messed up around Christmas because stores have to fit in 20-plus new lines with no extra space,’ one Redditor explained.
‘It’s possible the stock’s sitting in a back freezer somewhere – or it’s been temporarily pulled to make room.
‘If there’s a ‘/d’ at the end of the price ticket, that means discontinued. But Aldi also constantly re-releases things with new packaging or slightly different sizes, so it might come back,’ one added.
Still, that hasn’t stopped fans from mourning what they’re calling ‘the best cheap meat pie in Australia’.
‘I got a reduced pack once and was amazed. Never seen them again,’ one person said.

While some say the larger family-sized version is ‘even better,’ it too appears to have vanished from many stores.
In the meantime, fans are recommending a few worthy stand-ins.
‘The Angus beef and potato pies aren’t too bad. We have them with peas and gravy for an easy meal,’ one shopper suggested.
Others, however, say nothing quite compares to the flaky, chunky beef classic that’s become a comfort-food staple.
