I’ve officially binged all of Season 5 of Emily in Paris, which just launched on Netflix last week, and let me tell you – the drama, the romance, the fashion… it does not disappoint. From Paris to Rome, Emily’s love life continues to be a whirlwind, and yes, I’m here to rank every single love interest she’s had across the series.
Full disclosure – there will be spoilers ahead, so if you haven’t caught up yet, consider this your gentle warning before we dive into the tangled, flirty world of Emily’s romances.
11. Timothée
We have to start with Timothée (Victor Meutelet) at the bottom of the list – mainly because, well, he was underage when Emily… you know. Their fateful encounter happens in Season 1, when Emily takes a trip to the French countryside with Camille. Camille’s been gushing about her brother finishing business school, and Emily – ever the romantic adventurer – spends the night making eyes over champagne with a mysterious guy. Come morning, she discovers the truth: Timothée is Camille’s youngest brother… and just 17. Awkward and instantly disqualified.
10. Fabien
Next up is Fabien (Michel Biel), a painter with potential if only he hadn’t gone full cliché. They meet in Season 1 at a cozy dinner soirée hosted by Mindy. The night starts off sweet – they escape into the Paris streets for a little one-on-one wandering – but then Fabien whispers a line that instantly kills the mood: “I like American p***y.” Yeah, that’s a no from Emily. The potential Parisian fling evaporates faster than a macaron in the sun.
9. Gilles
Shoutout to Gilles (Gauthier Battoue), the real estate agent with a one-track mind: finding Emily a place to live and asking her out immediately. From the second he shows her the apartment in the series premiere, he’s already suggesting lunch, drinks and flirting galore. Emily shoots him down because of her long-distance boyfriend back home, but Gilles’ smooth persistence still earns him a spot on the list. He’s charming, but timing is everything.
8. Antoine
Ah, Antoine Lambert (William Abadie). At first, he felt like a bit of a villain – flirting with Emily in Season 1 while already entangled with Sylvie, her boss. Who does that? Yet, over the seasons, I’ve come around. By Season 5, he’s a consummate professional and one of Emily’s most reliable work allies, showing that not every connection has to be romantic to matter. Still, that early ‘expensive sex’ comment? Totally scandalous.
7. Thomas
Thomas (Julien Floreancig), the semiotics professor, burns bright and fast. They meet in a cafe, start gossiping about a couple nearby, and suddenly it’s flirty evenings back-to-back. But Thomas’ pretentious side comes out when he refuses to sit through a free performance of Swan Lake, and Emily sees the snobbery. Instant swipe left. He was fun, flirtatious and Parisian-smart – but ultimately, just not the right fit.
6. Doug
Doug (Roe Hartrampf), Emily’s Chicago ex, is the classic ‘what might have been’ story. Obsessed with the Cubs and not thrilled about Emily’s Paris move, he’s a little too predictable. Between the 3 a.m. calls and flaking on his visit, the long-distance experiment fails fast. Sure, there’s nostalgia, but Doug’s reluctance to embrace Emily’s big life change makes him a mid-tier contender.
5. Jake
Season 5 brings Jake (Bryan Greenberg), the fellow Midwesterner working at the US embassy. He swoops in right when Emily’s feeling homesick, brings her into a Friends trivia team, throws a Fourth of July party and yes… cornhole happens. They have a cute, light-hearted connection, but Emily’s life in Paris (and her unresolved feelings) mean she can’t start a new romance. A sweet fling, but timing isn’t on their side.
4. Mathieu
Mathieu Cadault (Charles Martins) could have been a dream – romantic, respectful and attentive. From the moment he meets Emily, sparks fly. He plans boat rides on the Seine and a weekend in Saint-Tropez. But Emily sleeps with Gabriel before the Saint-Tropez getaway, and Mathieu’s heartbreak is inevitable. Mature and perfect in so many ways, he just wasn’t enough to outshine Gabriel’s magnetic pull.
3. Gabriel
Speaking of Gabriel (Lucas Bravo)… the man who defines Emily in Paris. From the accidental apartment meeting to the passionate restaurant make-outs, Gabriel is pure drama, chemistry and style. He’s clearly the show’s Mr. Big: intense, romantic, frustrating and impossible to forget. Season 5 sees him following Emily to Rome, only to step back for Marcello, then reappear with a postcard from Greece. Classic Gabriel. You love him, you hate him and you always want more.
2. Marcello
Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) enters like a whirlwind – helping Emily down ski slopes in Megève, showing off his Vespa skills in Rome and convincing her to move cities. By Season 5, they’re navigating bumps, but he makes Emily genuinely happy. Still, a lunch with Gabriel triggers memories and feelings, and Emily ultimately chooses Paris over Italy, showing that Marcello’s charm, while undeniable, isn’t enough to rewrite her destiny.
1. Alfie
And at the very top: Alfie (Lucien Laviscount). British, good-looking and refreshingly straightforward, Alfie balances Emily’s optimism with just enough grounding realism. Introduced in French class in Season 2, they gradually fall into a healthy, promising relationship – but Gabriel’s lingering presence complicates things. By Season 5, the writers pair Alfie with Mindy, which feels like Emily finally being free to follow her heart and confirms, yes, Emily and Gabriel are the true endgame.
