Prosecutors said Madden engaged in dissuading a witness from reporting a crime during the first two weeks of September.
Madden entered a not guilty plea to every count after he was charged on Monday and was taken into custody.
He subsequently posted $100,000 bond on Tuesday and was released from custody.
Madden in 2009 appeared on the eighth season of the singing competition, singing the 1986 Bon Jovi song Livin’ on a Prayer in his audition.
Madden described himself as a sales rep for a media company in his audition for the show.
‘I’m kind of like a rock star living in a box,’ Madden said. ‘Blue collar guy just working in a cubicle, trying to make millions here [with] my voice.
Madden said his ‘singing comes from’ his heart, and he had ‘no singing lessons whatsoever’ coming into the show.
‘I’m not in a band,’ Madden said. ‘Although I kind of look like a rocker, people stop me a lot to say, “Hey, you should be on American Idol.” I finally said, “You know what? I’m gonna try.”‘
