A suspicious girlfriend has discovered her boyfriend was cheating on her with her best friend – after a private investigator uncovered shocking details.
Amy, from Melbourne, noticed her boyfriend acting strangely over the last six months – he seemed distant, took longer to answer calls and texts, and was suddenly working late at night so he was ‘uncontactable’.
Despite the couple, both aged 28, being together for five years, she said he seemed uninterested about moving in with her as he was still living at home with his family.
‘Sometimes I feel I’m not being prioritised. He started to feel distant. I feel like I don’t have the same dynamic with him anymore. When we first got together, I’d call him and he’d pick up straight away and we’d talk for hours, but now it’s hard to get hold of him,’ she told The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick under a voice disguise.
‘If I’m really honest, I do think he’s checked out a little bit. For the last five years, I thought this was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.’
During the popular segment called Catch Them If You Can, the radio station offered to hire a private investigator in the hope of putting Amy’s mind at ease.
‘I don’t want to have my heart broken later – it’d be really messy so I thought as scary as it is, maybe this is a great opportunity to just figure everything out,’ she said.
Things started off innocent, with the boyfriend just going to work every day and hanging out with the boys at the pub on a Friday night.
Over the next week, PI Dave surveilled the boyfriend, eventually following him to an Airbnb property that Amy confirmed was owned by his family – and one she helped manage the bookings for. At first, Dave only saw the boyfriend tidying up around the property before driving back home.

Taking things further, Amy gave the PI access to their Airbnb account.
‘Amy was able to provide me with the login. I just wanted to see if there were any leads there and something did catch my eye,’ Dave told The Fox.
‘For every couple of weeks, there are these one-night bookings and they stand out from the regular, multi-night bookings that usually occur at that property. Now all of the bookings separately are under different names.
‘In my line of business, they’re typically indicators that something’s going on. I did notice there’s actually one of these bookings for this evening so I’m going to go down and see if there’s any familiar faces turn up or any strange activity.’
Amy confirmed that every few weeks, she’d see a one-night booking randomly pop up – but she never really thought anything was suspicious.
On the same evening as the Airbnb booking, Amy said her boyfriend had told her he was working late and wouldn’t be contactable.
Dave decided to wait outside the boyfriend’s work that evening to see if he could find any clues – or if it was just an innocent act all along.
The boyfriend was seen leaving his office before making his way to the Airbnb, arriving at the property at around 8.30pm.
‘He didn’t park his car on the property, instead he parked on the street and walked into the house from a side entrance,’ Dave said, adding that he had noticed a Ring camera at the front door so he may have been avoiding it.
‘About 25 minutes later, a red hatchback arrived, parked behind his car on the street. And a woman about his age got out of the car. She did move really quickly.’

Dave noticed the woman go through the side door of the house.
‘I stayed there, around 9.30pm, a food delivery was dropped off. The driver used the side door. I couldn’t see who picked it up,’ he explained.
The PI said there was no movement until 1.30am when he noticed the pair walking towards their cars, with the boyfriend’s arm wrapped around the woman.
‘I did observe him walking a woman back to her car before getting into his. It was then I was able to capture a photo of the two,’ Dave said.
‘He has his arm around the unknown woman and it wasn’t just a quick hi and bye. There was some real intimacy there.’
Hosts Fifi Box, Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody were stunned by the revelation, as Amy was heard crying, struggling to speak after she saw the picture.
‘I feel sick,’ Amy said as she broke down in tears.
Fifi quickly intervened, saying they were going to take the conversation off-air because Amy was too distraught to talk.

The next day, the radio trio checked in on Amy to see how she was going.
‘Honestly I’ve never felt so betrayed,’ Amy said through her tears.
‘I had my suspicions but I honestly didn’t think anything was going on. It’s been made worse by the fact that the girl at the Airbnb is one of my best friends.
‘I went to high school with her – she’s my best friend.’
Everyone was shocked by the double betrayal, with Fifi saying: ‘I feel devastated, I didn’t think anything was happening. So painful for Amy to experience this, it’s horrible.’
Amy said she hasn’t had the courage to confront her boyfriend after discovering the two people she thought she could trust were secretly seeing each other behind her back.
‘I haven’t been able to do anything,’ she said.
‘I’m in shock. I’m so sure that over time I’d be grateful that it all came out now rather than later. My heart hurts now.’
The radio trio said they were supporting Amy through the devastating news and would arrange for her to see a psychologist as part of the service.
